cōrānuṁ nakhēda jāya nahīṁ. 4

A person with a corrupt nature will never escape their inevitable downfall.

ચોરાનું નખોદ જાય નહીં.

cōrānuṁ nakhōda jāya nahīṁ.

Said of public places or gathering spots always remaining populated despite changing times.

ચોરી પર શીનાજોરી

cōrī para śīnājōrī

Robbed you, and now shouting at you about it.

ચોરીનું ધન સીંકે ન ચડે

cōrīnuṁ dhana sīṁkē na caḍē

What comes in that way never settles into a household.

ચુક્યા (ભુલ્યા) ધા એરણપર.

cukyā (bhulyā) dhā ēraṇapara.

An error or missed opportunity still lands on the person responsible.

ચુક્યા કે મુવા, ચુક્યા કે ચાલ્યા.

cukyā kē muvā, cukyā kē cālyā.

A missed opportunity is as good as lost forever.

ચુંટી ચુંટીને ચાંદું પાડવું.

cuṁṭī cuṁṭīnē cāṁduṁ pāḍavuṁ.

Used when someone persistently nitpicks until a serious dispute is created.

ચુંટીને ચાંદલા કરવા.

cuṁṭīnē cāṁdalā karavā.

To extract money or favors from someone through painful persistence or small torments while pretending it is for a good cause.

ચ્યારે ચોરે બેસી ચાડી ન કરીએ એ ચતુરાઈની રીત.

A wise person avoids engaging in gossip or slander in public places.

ચડકે મોમ તુરંગ પર, ચલવા પાવક માંહીં;

caḍakē mōma turaṁga para, calavā pāvaka māṁhīṁ;

ચડતા દિનનું પારખું, ઘેર આવે મહેમાન, ચડતા દિનનું પારખું, ઘેર ન આવે શ્વાન.

caḍatā dinanuṁ pārakhuṁ, ghēra āvē mahēmāna, caḍatā dinanuṁ pārakhuṁ, ghēra na āvē śvāna.

ચાહત વો કીસ કામકી, બિન ચાહતકે સંગ;

cāhata vō kīsa kāmakī, bina cāhatakē saṁga;

ચાહે પાયા પ્રેમરસ, રાખા ચાહે માન;

cāhē pāyā prēmarasa, rākhā cāhē māna;

ચૈત્ર તપે ને વૈશાખ વાય, તો વરસ સારૂ.

caitra tapē nē vaiśākha vāya, tō varasa sārū.

ચાકર ચોરે તો અરખત જાય, ને ધણી ચોરે તો ન ઓદ જાય.

cākara cōrē tō arakhata jāya, nē dhaṇī cōrē tō na ōda jāya.

ચાકરી કરે લાખ, લેણા દેવી લક્ષ્મી; હીરલા મળે ઢલાક, શીરાવી જાય શીયલા.

ચામડાંના જોડા તેમ, ચામડાંની ઓખ.

cāmaḍāṁnā jōḍā tēma, cāmaḍāṁnī ōkha.

ચંપા મેગરા કરમાઈ જાય, યુવરની વાડ સહજે થાય.

ચંદા વેરી વાદળાં, જળ વેરી શેવાળ;

caṁdā vērī vādaḷāṁ, jaḷa vērī śēvāḷa;

ચંદન જૈસા સંત હૈ, સર્પ જૈસા સંસાર; અંગહીસે લપટા રહે, છંડે નહીં વિકાર.

caṁdana jaisā saṁta hai, sarpa jaisā saṁsāra; aṁgahīsē lapaṭā rahē, chaṁḍē nahīṁ vikāra.

ચંદન પડા ચમાર ઘર, નિત ઉઠ કુટે ચામ;

caṁdana paḍā camāra ghara, nita uṭha kuṭē cāma;

ચંદ્ર ખીન કૈસી ચાંદની, મોતી ખીન કૈસો હાર;

caṁdra khīna kaisī cāṁdanī, mōtī khīna kaisō hāra;

ચંગા સાહુ ઘર વસે, તીન અવગુણ હોય;

caṁgā sāhu ghara vasē, tīna avaguṇa hōya;

ચપ રે–ગોપીપુરાની ગપ ને વડે ચોટે આવી

ચતુર હોય તો રીઝવું, દસ્ત રમાઈ છેલ;

catura hōya tō rījhavuṁ, dasta ramāī chēla;

ચૌદું ચિંતામણિ, ને પહેડી પ્રધાન.

ચેત ચેત નર ચેત (સાખી)

ચીધેર સૌને કામ, પોતે ડગ ભરે નહીં; એ મૂર્ખના જામ, સાચું સોરઠીઓ ભણે.

cīdhēra saunē kāma, pōtē ḍaga bharē nahīṁ; ē mūrkhanā jāma, sācuṁ sōraṭhīō bhaṇē.

ચીધેર સૌને કામ, પોતે ડગ ભરે નહીં; એ મૂર્ખનો જમ, સાચું સોરઠીઆ ભણે.

cīdhēra saunē kāma, pōtē ḍaga bharē nahīṁ; ē mūrkhanō jama, sācuṁ sōraṭhīā bhaṇē.

ચીન પૈસા લીયા છીન, લાત મારે તીન

ચિંતા ન કર નચિંતા રહે, પુરનહાર સમર્થ;

ciṁtā na kara naciṁtā rahē, puranahāra samartha;

ચિંતા તાકી કીજીએ, જો અનહોતી હોય;

ciṁtā tākī kījīē, jō anahōtī hōya;

ચિંતામણી નર દેહ, મુવા પછી મસાણાંમાં;

ciṁtāmaṇī nara dēha, muvā pachī masāṇāṁmāṁ;

ચીતળમાંથી પીતળ નીકળ્યું, અમરેલી તો રેલી, મોણપુરમાં માર્ગ ન મળે, દો વસાવડ ઠેલી.

cītaḷamāṁthī pītaḷa nīkaḷyuṁ, amarēlī tō rēlī, mōṇapuramāṁ mārga na maḷē, dō vasāvaḍa ṭhēlī.

ચિત્રા નક્ષત્રને ‘ઘેલુ નક્ષત્ર’ પણ કહેવામાં આવ્યું છે. ‘ઘેલી ચિત્રા’ નામથી પણ તેને ઓળખવામાં આવે છે આ નક્ષત્રના તાપ ઉત્તમ જાણવો. પાકને પકવવામાં આ તાપ તડકો સારો ફાયદો કરાવે છે.

citrā nakṣatranē ‘ghēlu nakṣatra’ paṇa kahēvāmāṁ āvyuṁ chē. ‘ghēlī citrā’ nāmathī paṇa tēnē ōḷakhavāmāṁ āvē chē ā nakṣatranā tāpa uttama jāṇavō. pākanē pakavavāmāṁ ā tāpa taḍakō sārō phāyadō karāvē chē.

‘ ચિત્રાના વરસાદે નવસો નવાણું નદીઓ થઈ છે.’ ચિત્રાના વરસાદ પાછળનો પાક તથા વાવેતરને માટે ફાયદાકારક છે.

‘ citrānā varasādē navasō navāṇuṁ nadīō thaī chē.’ citrānā varasāda pāchaḷanō pāka tathā vāvētaranē māṭē phāyadākāraka chē.

ચોમાસામાં વર્ષાદ કેવો થશે તે જાણવા સારૂ અનુભવથી કે શાસ્ત્રાધારે વાર્તા કાહાડવાને લોકમા પ્રચલિત ઓહાં અથવા આધારભૂત વાક્યો.

cōmāsāmāṁ varṣāda kēvō thaśē tē jāṇavā sārū anubhavathī kē śāstrādhārē vārtā kāhāḍavānē lōkamā pracalita ōhāṁ athavā ādhārabhūta vākyō.

ચોમાસામાં વર્ષાદ કેવો થશે તે જાણવા સારૂ અનુભવથી કે શાસ્ત્રાધારે વતારા કાહાડવાને લોકોમાં પ્રચલિત ઓઢાં અથવા આધારભૂત વાક્યો.

cōmāsāmāṁ varṣāda kēvō thaśē tē jāṇavā sārū anubhavathī kē śāstrādhārē vatārā kāhāḍavānē lōkōmāṁ pracalita ōḍhāṁ athavā ādhārabhūta vākyō.

ચોપાઈ—અષાઢ માસે દે દિન સારા, આડમ પુનમ ઘોર અંધારા;

cōpāī—aṣāḍha māsē dē dina sārā, āḍama punama ghōra aṁdhārā;

ચોપાયા—બાર ફાસી ભાષા બદલે, તરવર બદલે શાખા;

cōpāyā—bāra phāsī bhāṣā badalē, taravara badalē śākhā;

ચોર કી દાઢી મેં તિનકા

cōra kī dāḍhī mēṁ tinakā

ચોરમાં મોર પક્ષ્યા.

ચોરના ધણી ક્રાણ થાય?
