Literally: The signs of bad luck are these—biting nails, shaking the head with both hands, cracking fingers, wiping hands and face with worn clothes, sitting on the threshold, spitting in the vessel one eats from, filling money in a bag with both hands and shaking it, sitting idly at the place where the dead are disposed of, urinating while standing, sewing clothes on one's own body, combing hair with a broken comb, throwing grain and paper in bad places, sweeping at night, crying 'alas' when having money, joking with low people, sitting lazily, singing without a good occasion or without instruments in a place of prayer, men singing like women.
