gōlī na thāya garāsaṇī, ēnjō thāya na pīra; dāsī satī thāya nahīṁ, vāḷa na thāya hīra.

Literally: A slave girl does not become a landlady, a servant does not become a saint; a maid does not become a chaste wife, hair does not become gold.
What it means: One cannot change their social status or fundamental essence.
